RE/MAX Heart of America opened in November, 1991, and will soon celebrate 26 years of serving the Rolla area’s real estate needs. When they first opened people would call asking what is an R E M A X and what do you do there? A few years later, people would call and tell them they were traveling and they saw RE/MAX everywhere!! Now they have people call because they are RE/MAX. RE/MAX stands for real estate maximums and was started in 1973 in Denver. RE/MAX is known world wide for professionalism and high producing, well educated agents.
The last 26 years have definitely brought lots of changes to the world of real estate. Technology, being at the forefront of those changes, has streamlined the process. Owner, Joyce Thomas started in 1983 typing contracts on a manual typewriter using carbon paper to produce 4 copies which all needed original signatures.
Joyce has served the local, state, and national Realtor organizations throughout most of her career; including serving on committees at the local level, to being a Director at the National level. Joyce serves her fellow Realtors in many ways, including serving as President of the Missouri Association of Realtors in 2011, she was also named to the National RPAC Hall of Fame in 2015.
Joyce and her daughter, Shelley Klossner, formed the Mother Daughter Team in 2001 and continue working hard for their clients as a team. Their emphasis is on helping people with their real estate decisions rather than just making a sale, both former teachers in the Rolla Public Schools, they believe in educating their clients as well as themselves.
